IAG Cargo uses Vueling to expand German services

PRESS RELEASE

May 13, 2015: IAG Cargo is boosting its German cargo capacity by 18% vs. last year. The new capacity provides a major boost to IAG Cargo's pioneering EuroConnector service and delivers customers with a greater array of options for shipping goods into, around and out of Europe.

The new capacity will be introduced from Düsseldorf, Hannover, Stuttgart, Berlin Tegel, Frankfurt, Munich and Hamburg into Barcelona and will be carried on Vueling's narrow-body aircraft.

This increase to IAG Cargo's network in Germany means customers will benefit from 47 additional direct flights from Barcelona into key European cities. In addition, this capacity will be used to connect to Madrid and from there to Latin American destinations, providing an important trade route for businesses wishing to connect to these high-growth markets.

The new cargo flights will be operational by the end of May with the exception of Munich and Frankfurt, which will start later in the year.

These services out of Germany complement and extend IAG Cargo's existing flights out of the country, which number 19 direct daily flights to London on the BA network, in addition to its 767 and short-haul freighter network, and 18 to Madrid on the Iberia network – including the opening of Hamburg as the 7th station from Germany into IAG Cargo's Madrid hub.

Chris Nielen, Regional Commercial Manager Europe at IAG Cargo commented: "This significant enhancement to our short-haul capacity out of Germany will provide customers with new options for intra-European trade and by connecting through our Madrid and London hubs, for international trade.

"Our industry-leading approach to capacity management has underpinned the services we have launched over the past couple of years – including the launch of EuroConnector. As a result, we are able to offer global businesses the flexibility they need across our European networks and services."

EuroConnector delivers cargo loads under 300 kilos within either 24 or 48 hours. Both versions of the service are built with reliability in mind, with the added benefit of a 50 per cent money back performance guarantee on EuroConnector 24. All routings are via London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Madrid or Barcelona and can be booked at www.iagcargo.com.

In addition, customers shipping goods out of Frankfurt have the option of using IAG Cargo's small freight collection service, Cargo Connector, for shipments of less than 300 kilos. A good complement to the EuroConnector service, Cargo Connector is free of charge and allows freight forwarders to make bookings at short notice without the need to invest in their own driver and truck.
