July 14, 2015: XPO Logistics has introduced a new sign-on- glass electronic proof of delivery (ePOD) system across its UK Transport and Specialist Services operations, enhancing the customer service process.
The solution enables XPO Logistics to capture order delivery signatures in real time and provides customers with immediate online access to the transaction information. It also ensures that any discrepancies are documented by the drivers at the time of delivery, and has the capability to capture images if there are exceptions or evidence of damage.
The ePOD technology enables customers to authorise invoices within minutes of a delivery being completed and supports near zero invoice discrepancies, which can significantly improve cash flow and reduce administration costs for customers.
Approximately 550 drivers are using the system across the company's UK next-day pallet network and Specialist Services operation, which makes deliveries of high value, fragile, bulky or time sensitive consignments. In total, XPO Logistics' UK Transport network delivers over 1.5 million consignments a year, comprising transportation in excess of 3.3 million pallets from 11 nationwide distribution centres.
The new solution integrates seamlessly with XPO Logistics' dedicated Transport Management System and existing mobile order tracking solution, which formats all data for the hand-held devices used by drivers.
Nigel Rouch, IT director at the UK Transport division of XPO Logistics, said: "We're continuously looking to ensure that our technology remains agile and dynamic in meeting the needs of our customers. By introducing sign-on-glass capabilities, we're giving customers real-time updates about the progress of their deliveries and accelerated invoicing that helps them operate their businesses more efficiently."
