September 03, 2015: Jettainer, the ULD outsource management company owned by Lufthansa, has won a contract from WestJet is to manage and maintain its pallets and containers.
Operations are about to start in conjunction with the start of non-stop, wide-body services from Canada to Europe and other parts of the world.
WestJet will use a mix of nearly 400 pallets and containers for the company's four B767-300 ER aircraft – the first of which has now been delivered.
"We are delighted to have won WestJet as a new customer. By signing with this Canadian airline, we were first of all able to further strengthen our position in the Americas, one of our most important growth markets," said Carsten Hernig, managing director of Jettainer.
With the taking over the ULD management for American Airlines and KF Aerospace, then company has been investing in the region following the 2014 launch of Jettainer Americas and several offices in North America.
"This new contract also confirms our aim at approaching low cost carriers and leisure airlines, which are expanding their product portfolio," added Hernig.
