KEMPTEN/ISTANBUL: November 16, 2015: Dachser subsidiary Turkey Lojistik Hizmetleri has launched a road logistics branch based in Istanbul.
The company will improve service for existing distribution and procurement customers in Turkey while setting up its own import and export transport operations with links to the Dachser's European groupage network.
"Turkey is an interesting market for logistics: the economy is developing at a rapid pace, the population is young and growing at a rate above the European average," explained Wolfgang Reinel, managing director European logistics North Central Europe and head of Dachser's road logistics business in Turkey.
"We have been developing transport operations in Turkey over the last few years. In close collaboration with our air and sea freight organization we now want to provide a holistic, intermodal logistics strategy to certain growth segments of the Turkish economy including consumer goods, automotive and textiles/fashion.
Head of Dachser Turkey road services Erkan Basak added: "We set ambitious growth targets and want to set up additional branches in the important industrial centers of Bursa, Izmir, Ankara and Mersin over the medium term."
With a staff of around 25,000 employees at 437 locations worldwide, in 2014 Dachser moved a total of 73.7 million shipments weighing 35.4 million tons to generate revenue of €5.3 billion.
