BAERUM, Norway: November 30, 2015. Norwegian Cargo has signed a two-year framework agreement with Royal Mail's Gatwick Air Mail Unit to support international shipments between the UK, Scandinavia and the U.S.
Norwegian operates daily flights from London Gatwick to New York and plans to increase frequency to Los Angeles to four a week from next Spring and launch a Gatwick-Boston service next May.
Norwegian Cargo currently offers long-haul freight capacity to Bangkok, New York, Orlando, Oakland, Los Angeles and Fort Lauderdale.
Bjørn Erik Barman-Jenssen, head of Cargo at the airline noted: "This is a great time to strengthen our relationship with Royal Mail. Royal Mail has already trusted us to ship around 200 tonnes of mail to the U.S. and Scandinavia so far this year and our UK services will expand with new routes and more capacity to the world's leading cargo hubs."
Gary Taylor, International Service manager, Western Europe, Scandinavia, Poland & Russia at Royal Mail added: "The increase of online purchases in the Nordics from UK retailers and SMEs makes Norwegian Cargo's enhanced network and widebody capacity an attractive proposition."
Based on the volume of parcels received, Royal Mail said the top ten UK cities ordering online on Black Friday, November 27 were Norwich, Dorchester, Exeter, Bournemouth, Swansea, Aberdeen, Torquay, Inverness, Taunton and Lancaster.
