DOHA: January 06, 2015. Qatar Airways Cargo, which begins a new B777 freighter service between Liege and Dallas on January 19, has taken delivery of its seventh A330 freighter and replaced a leased B747 with its first B747F nose-loading aircraft.
Ulrich Ogiermann, Qatar Airways Cargo head commented: “The arrival of this new aircraft brings our total fleet up to 16 freighters and is an important addition to the airline at a time when we are experiencing unprecedented growth. Increasing our capacity in tandem with increasing our network reach is an essential part of our strategy for the coming years and we expect to have a total of 21 freighters in our fleet by 2017.”
The new A330 will provide more cargo capacity to Bahrain, Brussels, Chennai, Hyderabad, London Stansted and Mumbai. The new B777 freighter service to Dallas will operate twice a week and increase export capacity from 400 to 1,000 tonnes per month.
“We are proud to welcome Qatar Airways Cargo, one of the world’s largest and fastest growing cargo carriers, to Dallas/Fort Worth Airport,” said John Ackerman, EVP Global Strategy and Development for Dallas/Fort Worth Airport. “Cargo and logistics is a strategic priority, and will continue to help our airport grow and create economic benefits for the region,” he added.
