THE HAGUE: January 28, 2016. Damco has launched a BtC logistics service in China. The company says the program includes inbound goods management and consumer order receipt to final delivery.
With 1,500 local staff and 26 locations, Damco now delivers in over 1,600 cities and the new offering promises a fast set-up and flexible, scalable implementation of customers’ e-commerce solutions.
Via EDI from the seller, the company receives consumer online orders and the goods are then picked, packed and labeled, and supporting documents produced, carriers booked and waybills printed.
Buying consumers can track their orders online, and selling companies are provided with full visibility of all their orders and service performance through online dashboards.
Damon Gu, Damco’s head of Supply Chain Management for Asia, explained: “The large and rapidly growing Chinese market for online shopping is a magnet for both importers and domestic producers. Online shopping events such as China Singles Day are already creating world-beating levels of activity for e-retailers locally in China, as well as globally”.
“Discerning Chinese consumers in this highly competitive marketplace expect the highest standards of fulfilment. This new programme helps companies to guarantee that level of service. Our many years of experience in China and our vast spread of offices across the country helped us to develop a state of the art, complete and robust solution to merchants’ fulfilment challenges,” he added.
Part of the Maersk Group, Damco has more than 300 offices in over 100 countries and employs over 11,000 people.
