New Sub-Saharan LCL service

CLARK, NJ: February 01, 2016. CaroTrans, an ocean freight consolidator and NVOCC (non-vessel operating common carrier), has partnered with South Africa-based NVOCC Thrutainers International to develop a U.S. - Sub-Saharan Africa import/export LCL service network.

Established in 1978 Thrutainers provides container freight stations, multimodal inland services, warehousing and distribution at all major South African ports including Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth. The new LCL service will link these ports with Atlanta, New York and Chicago.

Thrutainers“We are pleased to partner with Thrutainers to deliver more direct and secure container transportation services between the U.S. and Sub-Saharan Africa. [It] is a premiere neutral NVO and a dominant player throughout the region,” said Greg Howard, CaroTrans CEO.

The two companies said they are committed to delivering Web-based and EDI technology solutions for freight management and end-to-end supply chain visibility. CaroTrans’ e-commerce tools cover booking, ocean and inland rates, sailing schedules and tracking.

“Thrutainers’ growth has been built on innovation, dedication and excellence and this will continue to be our foundation for continued growth. Backed by unparalleled infrastructure, supported by technology and execution, we are committed to delivering cost-effective and reliable services in partnership with CaroTrans,” added Andre de Oliveira, Thrutainers group chairman.

Thrutainers operates a 20,000 sq.mt. facility in Prospecton, Durban (right), developed in conjunction with property company Investec. The building is close to the new port of Durban and all major arterial roads.
