ISTANBUL: March 28, 2016. Mehmet Tevfik Nane, the new general manager and director of Pegasus Airlines, made a guest speaker appearance at a two-day logistics conference for students (right) underwritten by Pegasus Cargo and held at Istanbul University's Transportation and Logistics Faculty March 23-24.
Nane, who began his new job 10 days ago, was former head of the Executive Committee of Carrefour SA from 2013-2016, general manager and head of the Executive Commttee of Turkish electronics retailer Teknosa, and corporate secretary of Sabanci Holding between 1997 and 2005.
Pegasus Airlines chairman Ali Sabancı said: "Although he is new to the aviation sector, [Nane] has achieved great successes in a range of highly competitive sectors prior to joining us."
Pegasus reported revenue of TL3.49 billion in 2015 - a rise of 13 percent - and a pre-tax EBITDAR of TL679 million, a 13 percent increase over 2014. During the year under review, the airline added Erbil, Kutaisi, London Gatwick, Oslo and Zaporizhia to its international network and Kars, Kastamonu and Ordu-Giresun to its domestic services.
Coincident with Nane's first day in his new position, the airline began services to Gabala, Azerbaijan three times a week from London's Stansted and Gatwick airports via Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen.
