DB Schenker has also chartered the AN 225 (right) for its first flight to Australia when it delivered a 117-tonne generator from the Czech Republic to an aluminum refinery in Collie, a four-hour drive north of Perth.
The shipment left the Czech city of Pilsen on May 10 for an overnight multi-axle truck movement to Prague where it departed on May 12. Stopovers on the almost 14.000 km trip were in Turkmenbashi, Hyderabad and Kuala Lumpur prior to arrival in Perth on May 15.
Commenting on the arrival of the aircraft, DB Schenker Australia CEO Ron Koehler said: “The excitement was great, there were high expectations. To organize airfreight in an Antonov 225 is an absolute highlight. The cooperation between our experts in Adelaide and Perth with Czech colleagues went smoothly. We are really proud of this order of our clients here in Australia,” he added.
