MOSCOW: June 16, 2016. AirBridgeCargo Airlines (ABC) has launched a twice-weekly service from Moscow to Chongqing in south-west China.
ABC's new destination will be linked to the airline's flights to and from Shanghai and connect to services from Moscow to Europe and the U.S.
“Chongqing is our sixth point in China, which makes our footprint in this country stronger and guarantees the coverage needed to ensure we are meeting our customers’ needs,” said Robert van de Weg, ABC’s senior vice-president, Marketing & Sales.
China was the first country served by ABC iwhen it began operations in 2004. Starting from Beijing and Shanghai, it later expanded services to include Hong Kong in 2006, Zhengzhou in 2010 and Chengdu in 2012.
According to China Daily, Chongqing received its first ‘parallel imports’ of Land Rover, BMW and Audi vehicles by train from Europe on June 13.
The train left Duisburg, Germany at the beginning June and routed via Poland, Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan before entered China via the Alataw Pass in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
Parallel imports refer to cars imported without authorization from the manufacturer said the report.
