ESSEN: July 08, 2016. DB Schenker has signed an exclusive five-year agreement with U.S. online freight shipping marketplace uShip.
According to the company the multimillion euro partnership is to "harness digital innovations" that get freight moved faster and more efficiently.
Beginning later this year, Schenker will launch its ‘Drive4Schenker’ online platform using the uShip software to match 25,000 company-approved transport partners to find additional cargo along their routes in real time.
The result will be real-time web-based freight management including carrier reviews, pricing, quote comparisons and complete transport monitoring and processing, said the company.
uShip CEO Matt Chasen said: "DB Schenker has a clear vision of how technology and innovation can create a more efficient, higher-quality digital freight network. We are excited that they have chosen our industry-leading web and mobile platform to transform their road freight business.”
The uShip marketplace platform, which matches shippers with carriers in over 19 countries, will be used first by Schenker’s European land transport division. "We want to tap the potential we have for greater efficiency and further optimize our network for the benefit of both our customers and our carriers," commented Ewald Kaiser, DB Schenker board member for Land Transport and CEO of Region Europe.
