MOSCOW/BAKU: September 18, 2016. AirBridgeCargo Airlines (ABC) has launched a twice-weekly B747 freighter service from Moscow to Seattle with a return via Chicago.
The airline, which also serves Dallas, Atlanta, Houston and Los Angeles, is now joined in Chicago by Silk Way West Airlines (right) that began its second U.S. route with a B747-8 on the same day.
Silk Way says it plans to operate twice a week between Chicago and Baku, Azerbaijan from October in addition to its New York service.
Hendrik Falk, ABC's vice president for North and South America said: "We expect our new Seattle service will enjoy strong support from customers transporting a wide variety of products, including aerospace components, machinery, fish, seafood and other perishables."
Robert van de Weg, senior vice president, Marketing & Sales added: "For customers in Asia, we will also offer solutions for aerospace cargoes from China, Japan, Korea and Singapore."
The new Silk Way service follows an amendment last month to its Foreign Carrier Permit allowing the operation of scheduled and charter flights between the U.S. and Azerbaijan, based on an Open Skies Agreement established in April this year.
