ABU DHABI: October 31, 2016. A networking event hosted by Etihad Global Cargo Management (Etihad GCMC) and the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce was held in Abu Dhabi today for Italian companies from the country's Parma region.
The event follows an exclusive agreement signed by Etihad GCMC and Parma Airport to develop cargo volumes. The project with Etihad GCMC partner Alitalia will involve daily road feeder services to Italy's air cargo hub, Milan's Malpensa Airport.
Parma said it sees growing export cargo potential of high value, time-dependent commodities like chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and foodstuffs shipped via Etihad GCMC and its partners.
David Kerr, senior vice president of Etihad Cargo said: "Our partnership is more than one between aviation entities, but two countries. It was an honor to welcome the Italian delegates to Abu Dhabi and we are looking forward to creating new business opportunities by connecting local producers with global customers through our vast network of more than 250 destinations."
Federico Pizzarotti, Mayor of Parma, added: "I am proud of what has been done by Etihad Airways and our airport in Parma, which will serve to boost trade between our countries."
