MIAMI: January 19, 2017. Spanish freight forwarder and ocean cargo digital platform iContainers has opened an office at Rotterdam as a part of a three-year expansion plan.
iContainers says it provides access to more than 500,000 rates and maritime trade lanes to compare, book, manage and track commercial shipments via the web without intermediaries.
With offices in Florida, Ahmedabad and Barcelona, iContainers CEO Jaime Jiménez said the addition of Rotterdam would give his organization access to Europe's main shipping hub.
"As an online company, iContainers was able to convert, in a short time, a previously-lengthy service to what is now the new and fast norm in acquiring logistics services," he explained. " As such, having a presence at key locations in the maritime world is vital as it provides for easy facilitation.
"It also allows us to focus more on commercial strategies and develop services such as door-to-door, which requires the coordination of various agents that form the transport chain," he added.
iContainers says it offers door-to-door services for U.S.-Spain, U.S.-Taiwan, U.S.-Shanghai, U.S.-Netherlands, U.S.-Emirates, Spain-Taiwan, Spain-Netherlands, Spain-Emirates and Spain-Shanghai shipments, representing nearly 30 percent of its annual turnover.
