ATLANTA: March 01, 2017. Delta Cargo has launched 'DASH Critical & Medical', a GPS-enabled, same-day product for intra-U.S. shipments less than 1lb, or up to 100lbs from companies with TSA 'Known Shipper' status.
Following a soft launch at the end of last year, the service is now available from Atlanta, Chicago, Cincinnati, Detroit, New York-La Guardia, Los Angeles, Memphis, Minneapolis, Rochester and Seattle to 89 mainland U.S. destinations and Hawaii.
For 1-10lbs shipments, the price is US$83 within the contiguous U.S. and US$94 for Hawaii, and US$183 or US$214 respectively for 71-100lbs shipments.
As the name suggests, the product is aimed at shipments of medical equipment, documents and machine parts including AOC components. Cut-off time is 45 minutes prior to flight departure.
"We've tailored and developed this product around our customer needs with the highest boarding priority of any Delta Cargo product, and the fastest transit times in the logistics industry. No one else offers a comparable service," said Gareth Joyce, Delta senior vice president and Delta Cargo president.
According to the airline's website shipments can be tendered at the Atlanta, Detroit, Los Angeles or Minneapolis DASH offices, or the Delta Cargo facility in LaGuardia.
"We are working to expand the program across our domestic and international network as well as make enhancements," added Joyce.
The GPS real-time tracking and monitoring included in the Critical & Medical price is also available for the general Delta DASH small package service for an extra US$25 one-way.
The airline guarantees airport-to-airport shipment availability within one hour of flight arrival or a 100 percent refund of freight charges up to US$750.00 – as long as the shipment is "booked electronically".
