DUBAI: April 03, 2017. Emirates SkyCargo has launched Emirates SkyFresh for the shipment of fresh consumables and perishables.
The airline said the new sdrvice suite is supported by its experienced staff, a fleet of aircraft including freighters, its Dubai hub, and a range of cool chain solutions including a Ventilated Cool Dolly (right) to maintain the quality of flowers, fruits, vegetables, fresh fish, meat and seafood in transit.
Based on the commodity requirement the airline has introduced three service options: SkyFresh, SkyFresh Breathe and SkyFresh.
SkyFresh is for temperature-tolerant fruits and vegetables; SkyFresh Breathe provides protection for fresh-cut flowers, ready-to-sell cut fruits and vegetables, and fresh fish; and SkyFresh Active is for perishables that require constant temperature control.
With a 16-tonnes capacity, the new aluminum-sided dolly not only maintains a constant temperature but also includes a ventilation system for fresh air that is cleaned using custom-built filters, cooled and then circulated.
Last year the airline carried nearly 400,000 tonnes of perishables including salmon from Norway, flowers from Ecuador, meat from Australia, mangoes from the Indian subcontinent, and wine and cheese from France.
In the past two years Emirates has also carried 20,000 tonnes of perishables from the U.S. including cherries from Seattle, lobsters from Boston, strawberries, avocados and asparagus from California, meat from Texas and oranges from Florida.
