HONG KONG: April 05, 2017. Supply chain specialist Tigers Ltd has signed a cooperation agreement with national postal provider Pos Malaysia to manage its e-commerce facility at Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
Tigers will manage business to customer (B2C) fulfilment across Malaysia and Asia Pacific, while Pos Malaysia will provide same day and express services for final mile delivery.
As part of the agreement, the company will also handle the returns business throughout the region for Pos Malaysia customers.
"The cooperation agreement enables Tigers to offer its global customers these services using the Pos facilities at Kuala Lumpur," said CEO Andrew Jillings. "Customers who opt to sell their product in the Tigers eShop can also opt to have immediate access to 25,000 Pos employees through a direct link from the eShop to Pos Malaysia's in-house marketplace on their staff website," he added.
"Pos Malaysia is excited with this strategic collaboration with Tigers which would strengthen our presence in the regional eCommerce and cross-border landscape," noted Dato' Mohd Shukrie Mohd Salleh, Pos Malaysia group CEO. "Our facility is just next to the cargo airstrip which allows speedy inbound and outbound processing. The warehousing area is also more than enough to cater for increasing future demands.
"This collaboration is also very timely as Pos Malaysia has just received a shot in the arm for its eFulfilment business as we have just sealed our position as the local partner in developing the eFulfilment hub of the newly launched Digital Free Trade Zone," he continued.
Last month Alibaba announced a partnership with the state-run Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) to host what company executive chairman Jack Ma described as an Electronic World Trade Platform (eWTP).
"This is an exciting development for the country, and to be an early participant in eWTP will provide a plethora of opportunities for Malaysian organizations," commented Malaysia's prime minister Dato' Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak.
In addition to Alibaba and its Cainiao Network, partners include Malaysia Airports Holdings (MAH), Ant Financial and the Malaysian banks CIMB and Maybank.
