BARCELONA: March 17, 2017. International Airlines Group (IAG) will begin flights from Barcelona to Los Angeles, Oakland, Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic and Buenos Aires in June this year with 'Level' – its first low-cost, long-haul airline.
The new carrier will operate two A330 aircraft staffed initially by Iberia cabin crew and create 250 jobs from its base in Barcelona.
Level joins Aer Lingus, British Airways, Iberia and Vueling as the group's fifth airline brand.
IAG CEO Willie Walsh commented: ""Barcelona is Vueling's home base and this will allow customers to connect from Vueling's extensive European network onto Level's longhaul flights.
"This is just the start. We're really excited about the opportunities for expansion and we plan to bring Level to other European destinations," he added.
Flights to Los Angeles begin twice a week from June 01, 2017; to Oakland the next day three times per week; to Punta Cana from June 10 twice a week; and to Buenos Aires on June 17 three times per week.
