JEDDAH: February 08, 2017. Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) has taken delivery of an A330-300, a B777-300 and an A320 so far this year. The carrier expects to take delivery of seven B787-9, five more B777-300s, nine additional A330-300s and eight A320s for a total of 32 aircraft in 2017.

Saudia Cargo renew transplant agreementSaudia director general Saleh Bin Nasser Al-Jasser said the new aircraft are part of a fleet modernisation program and would provide more capacity on flights to Multan, Pakistan; Port Sudan and Manchester as well as support new services to the Maldives, Munich and Ankara.

In a related development, Saudia Cargo has renewed its humanitarian support for the Saudi Center for Organ Transplantation with the signing of a new agreement between Center director general Faisal Shaheen, and Saudia Cargo CEO Nabil Khojah (left of picture).

Khojah said Saudia Cargo wanted to increase its CSR activities and was proud to continue its logistics support for the Center that began in 2014 and saw the successful delivery of 217 shipments last year.

He said that in addition to providing "extreme priority" to organ transplant shipments throughout the Kingdom, the service would now be extended to other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries this year.

Commenting on the new agreement, Shaheen said he "treasured" the high level of coordination with Saudia Cargo that has contributed to the program's success over the past two years. He added the Center would now seek to expand its scope to include specialized centers and health organizations in other GCC countries.
