CharterSync CargoTech The world’s leading air cargo charter technology company, CharterSync, today announces becoming the fifth member to join, CargoTech.

Joining CargoTech will enable CharterSync to scale its current operations and accelerate the ability of freight forwarders to move cargo through charter - faster, more efficiently and sustainably.

Co-founders Ed Gillett and Simon Watson first met in 2015 during their commercial pilot training at a leading international airline. After joining an air cargo charter brokerage - and realising the booking process for air charters was inefficient, outdated and time-consuming - CharterSync was born.

As Co-founder Ed Gilllett explains: “Aviation is one of the last industries to be fully digitised. What makes CharterSync special is the kind of innovation we are bringing to the industry. We’re the world’s first air cargo charter company to offer a fully integrated digital end-to-end booking process and management system for freight forwarders and airlines. Joining the group, we’ll be able to expedite the way in which we roll out our technology across the industry on a global scale.”

Co-founder Simon Watson adds: “We’re really excited to be working closely with the CargoTech Group. The natural synergies, together with the last four years of innovation and deep learning, will help us to supercharge the development of our technology. We want to bring this sector into the 21st century and believe it’s time to go beyond just email and WhatsApp to challenge the status quo.”

“CargoTech aims at providing the most relevant digital solution to every cargo business process. What we were missing until now, was an expert for air cargo charter operations to drive the much-needed digital transformation in this segment. Since launching in 2019, CharterSync has built an innovative, tech-informed, and fresh thinking global air cargo charter business from the ground up and gained a well-deserved reputation as an industry innovator at the forefront of the next generation of air charter,” says Cedric Millet, President of CargoTech. “It was clear from the first time we talked at the IATA World Cargo Symposium in London last year, and again at the Air Cargo Forum in Miami a few months later, that CargoTech and CharterSync were a perfect symbiosis to remove manual pain points from air cargo charter operations and deliver best-in-class digital transformation in their stead.”

Together, CharterSync and CargoTech are committed to reducing CO2 emissions and driving a more sustainable air cargo industry, enabled through technology. Watson continues: “joining the group allows us to work collaboratively and to optimise the use of aircraft moving cargo from A to B. The more we can digitise the process, the more efficient it can become, which will in turn lead to a more sustainable industry”.

Today CharterSync is known as the go-to digital air cargo charter service solution. The company has won a number of awards in recent years, including Logistics UK Awards, nominated as Ones to Watch in The Sunday Times Tech Track 100, Supply Chain Excellence Awards, Business Tech Awards, and most recently in 2023, became the 49th Fastest Growing Companies in The Sunday Times 100. The latest award is a testament to CharterSync’s rapid growth, given how few tech companies are profitable from day one (and therefore eligible for the award).
