TURKISH A330 freighter ISTANBUL: November 14, 2016. Turkish Cargo has begun a weekly A330 freighter service From Istanbul to Chennai, India and Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Between January and October 2016, Turkish Airlines reported a 21.7 percent increase in cargo tonnage to 714,712 tons carried and a 3.7 percent rise in passenger traffic to 53.8 million.

Cargo revenue for the period was US$712 million – up US$4 million year-on-year while passenger revenue fell from US$7.2 billion to US$6.7 billion.

Turkish Cargo provides capacity to 292 destinations in 117 countries via 11 freighters and 323 passenger aircraft, including 86 widebody units. For the 12 months to October 2016, the number of airline destinations rose 13 to 279 worldwide.

Turkish Airlines reported total revenue of US$7.6 billion for the first nine months of 2016, down from US$8.1 billion in the same period last year. The net result fell from US$877 million to a loss of US$463 million as financial costs associated with new aircraft deliveries rose from US$265 million to US$660 million year-on-year.
