CEO of Vietjet Air Cargo Do Xuan Quang and Patrick Pelletier Sales Director of Airbus GroupHANOI: Low-cost Vietnamese airline Vietjet Air has launched a cargo subsidiary Vietjet Cargo.

At the official ceremony on November 15, Vietjet CEO Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao said the company has begun partnerships for aircraft maintenance, training and development, parts manufacturing and aerospace with industrial parks in Vietnam: "We are currently working towards the establishment of our subsidiaries in the aviation industry, and airline alliances in other countries," she said.

Also attending the airline launch was Zainal Abidin, founder of general sales agent ABDA Group that represents Germany-based Leisure Cargo in the region, and Patrick Pelletier (right), Airbus freighter sales director for India, Asia and Bangladesh, who presented Vietjet Cargo CEO Do Xuan Quang with a model A330 freighter.

Do Xuan Quang said the company planned to operate freighter aircraft for scheduled and charter services and set up interline relationships "to enhance and further develop the cargo network".

VietJet Air operates 770 flights a week from Ho Chi Minh City, Ha Noi, Hai Phong, and Da Nang to 21 Asian destinations including Singapore, Bangkok, Seoul, and Busan. In February the company ordered 63 A320 aircraft. No date has been announced for the delivery of A330 freighters to Vietjet Cargo.
