LUXEMBOURG: January 5, 2016. François Bausch and Camille Gira, respectively Luxembourg minister and secretary of state for Sustainable Development and Infrastructure, have met with Chinese officials in Beijing to negotiate additional traffic rights for Cargolux.

CFL rail-container-trainThe two government officials, accompanies by executives from Luxembourg’s CFL logistics group, will also meet with the governor of Henan Province, Xie Fuzhan, to sign an MoU setting up a rail link between Zhengzhou and a multimodal logistics hub at Bettembourg in the south of Luxembourg.

The Bettembourg facility, with a new intermodal terminal under construction, links road and rail networks to Antwerp, Lübeck (with continuation to Scandinavia, the Baltics States and Russia); as well as to Helsingborg, Le Boulou, Milan and Trieste with a further rail link to Turkey.

Later this week, Bausch and Gira will meet with Guo Gengmao, Henan Province Communist Party general secretary, to discuss “intensified cooperation in transportation and logistics between Henan Province and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg,” according to a government statement.

Zhengzhou in Henan Province is Cargolux’s hub in China providing 747-8 freighter services to Milan, Chicago and Luxembourg. The city of eight million inhabitants also hosts rail links to Europe by UPS, DB Schenker, PKP Cargo and JSC Russian Railways.
