MUNICH: June 05, 2019. The CLIP Intermodal container terminal in Poznan Swarzędz, Poland and Luxembourg multimodal company CFL are to begin four roundtrip rail services a week between Swarzędz and CFL’s terminal in Bettembourg-Dudelange, Luxembourg by the end of the year.

CFL LUXThe train, with a capacity for 37 intermodal units, will accept containers, craneable semi-trailers as well as non-craneable semi-trailers on the 1,000 kilometre route

The CLIP terminal will use the Lohr Railway System technology to load non-craneable trailers said Agnieszka Hipś from CLIP Intermodal: “We recognize the contract with CFL multimodal as the next step of our development to provide a more comprehensive and environmental-friendly service to our customers travelling from and to our Freight Village.”

The intermodal terminal of Bettembourg Dudelange is already equipped with two platforms and offers regular connections to Lyon, Le Boulou and Barcelona. Fraenz Benoy, CFL Multimodal managing director commented: “Our objective is to connect the terminal of Bettembourg-Dudelange with major economic centers in Europe. This new regular rail motorway allows us both to expand our intermodal service offering to Central Europe and to address the non-craneable trailers market.”

In a related move the Port of Trieste and CFL have signed an MoU to promote multimodal logistics between Trieste and CFL’s Luxembourg hub that has nine roundtrip rail services a week. This will increase to 12 by the end of the year says CFL.
