At the Spruce Meadows CPKC International Grand Prix in Calgary Sept. 13, 2026, every clear round helped advance heart health in southern Alberta.
Through CPKC's Clear Rounds for Heart initiative, the company donated $140,000 to the Libin Cardiovascular Institute to support cardiovascular research, care and education.
Competitors helped drive the donation by jumping 14 clear rounds on Sunday with CPKC contributing $10,000 for every clear round jumped, including those with time faults. Ben Maher won the CPKC International Grand Prix aboard Enjeu de Grisien.
Clear Rounds for Heart is part of the CPKC Has Heart program. Since launching in 2014, Clear Rounds has raised more than $1.77 million for heart health research and care.
“The $140,000 raised will help fund important, world-leading research to improve cardiovascular health taking place here in Calgary, Alberta, the home to thousands of CPKC railroaders,” said Chad Becker, CPKC Chief of Staff. “Every clear round jumped on Sunday contributed to that impact, and I want to congratulate Ben Maher and Enjeu de Grisien on their performance and CPKC International Grand Prix win.”
"We are deeply grateful for CPKC’s continued commitment to the Libin Cardiovascular Institute and to advancing cardiovascular health in our community,” says Dr. Robert Rose, PhD, Institute Director. “Through their generous support, CPKC has helped enable innovative cardiovascular research that advances our goals of better prevention, treatments and outcomes for patients across Alberta and beyond."
The Libin Cardiovascular Institute is a joint entity of Alberta Health Services and the University of Calgary.
