A380 DubaiDUBAI: August 11, 2016. Emirates Airline has begun a new daily service to Hanoi, Vietnam via Yangon, Myanmar with a B777-300ER. Hanoi becomes the airline's second gateway within the country following the launch of services to Ho Chi Minh City in 2012.

The airline will replace a B777-300ER with an A380 between Dubai and Guangzhou from October 01 2016 - adding to a network of more than 40 cities served by its fleet of 81 A380s including Beijing and Shanghai.

Emirates said it is a keen supporter of China's 'Belt and Road' initiative with service to 56 cities in 31 of the 65 countries identified as part of the ambitious plan to link Asia with Europe and the Middle East.

Other destinations to get additional A380 capacity will be Manchester, UK when the airline begins a third daily frequency in January 2017 – replacing a B777-300ER currently in use on the route. Emirates said January next year would also see a swap of its current A380 service at Birmingham from a morning to afternoon departure for better "A380 to A380" connectivity over Dubai.

The airline's second UK destination 25 years ago after London Gatwick, Emirates now operates 21 flights a week to Manchester.
