Turhan Ozen ISTANBUL: December 29, 2016. Turkish Airlines has appointed former Ceva Logistics Global Health sector president Turhan Özen as Chief Cargo Officer (CCO).

The announcement coincides with a 21 percent increase in the airline's cargo and mail traffic for the first 11 months of 2016 – up from 654,051 tons to 791,285 tons year-on-year.

Özen began his career in 1991 at IVECO where he held a variety of management positions in sales, marketing and logistics. In 2000 he joined TNT Logistics as a Business Development manager before being appointed Distribution Operations Group manager and subsequently Operations director.

He moved to Ceva Logistics in 2007 and was appointed deputy Managing Director, Commercial in 2011; vice president Sales and Business Development for the Balkans, Middle East and Africa; and then president of the company's Global Health sector business in 2015.

This year he was appointed managing director Middle East and North Africa for Ceva prior to joining Turkish Airlines in December.

Fluent in English and French, Özen studied Business Administration at Istanbul's Boğaziçi University and has attended Koç University's executive MBA program.

Turkish Airlines has also announced it will begin daily freighter services to Kharkiv, Ukraine in March 2017 following the addition of a passenger service to Zaporizhzhia four times a week from the end of December. The airline now operates flights to six Ukraine points from Istanbul including Kiev, Odessa, Dneprepetrovsk, Lvov and Kherson.
