HAMBURG: June 28, 2017. Hong Kong-based 3PL Kerry Logistics has launched a weekly consolidation rail service between Duisburg, Germany and Shanghai via the Yiwu terminal in the Yangtze River Delta.

Duisburg GermanyIn April, the company inaugurated the first eastbound rail freight service from London to Yiwu.

The latest rail link adds to the company's existing full- and less than container load (LCL) services and offers shippers a transit time of 16 days for westbound cargo departing every Wednesday from Shanghai, and 21 days departing Duisburg eastbound every Friday.

The new LCL solution is part of Kerry Logistics' end-to-end freight management service, which includes storage, quality control, assembly and reworking, in addition to the pre-carriage and delivery to final destination.

Thomas Blank, company managing director Europe commented: "We can now offer our customers a flexible, cost-effective solution on this route for cargoes from industrial freight, down to smaller e-commerce commodities.

"Acting as the consolidator ourselves allows us to offer shorter lead times, moving each shipment faster than if we had to wait for a full container from each customer," he added.

The new service follows a Kerry Logistics investment earlier this month in Dubai-based Globalink Logistics that specializes in the Eurasia CIS region.
