LEER, Germany/ SCHIEDAM, Netherlands: October 17, 2017. Heavylift and project cargo ocean carriers BBC Chartering and Jumbo have agreed to collaborate in a 'Global Project Alliance' while remaining separate businesses.

The two family-owned companies combine heavylift expertise and fleet capacity and intend to offer customers "best for project" solutions by joint bidding on specific projects.

BBC Pearl"Jumbo and BBC Chartering make a great match, which one can truly call 'the biggest and the best'. We look forward to forge this alliance and intensify our collaboration on commercial, operational and strategic levels," commented BBC Chartering CEO Svend Andersen.

"We realize that the world of project shipping is changing rapidly, and that our organizations need to focus on building strategic assets that will enable them to create value in the future," he added.

BBC Chartering provides customers with 180 vessels in a project charter network for single cargo transactions, sophisticated transport projects or strategic volume contracts. The company also operates a global liner and semi-liner network with tramp capability for "any port, any cargo".

The Jumbo heavylift fleet has lifting capacities up to 3,000 tonnes and services ranging from transporting large and heavy pieces of equipment to calling at small, underdeveloped and shallow water ports.

"Both of our companies are family owned, financially strong, and follow a long term strategy in the project shipping sector. As alliance partners we seek to fully utilize our potential arising from BBC Chartering's market position as leader in the volume market for projects, and from Jumbo's market position as leader in super heavy lift projects," noted Jumbo CCO Twan Voogt.
