WILMINGTON, NC: November 02, 2017. Crowley Maritime will begin a weekly, fixed-day, FCL and LCL service from the Port of Wilmington to Guatemala and Honduras from November 21, 2017.

Crowley ShippingThe company said its new lift-on/lift-off (LO/LO) offering would provide customers with an optional mid-Atlantic Coast destination for cargo entering the U.S. from Central America while reducing total landed costs.

"Adding this new port of entry as an option for our customers is part of our overall strategy to offer customizable and complete supply chain solutions," said Frank Larkin, senior vice president and general manager, Logistics Services.

"We have served the cargo transportation needs of our customers shipping to and from Central America for more than 50 years," added Steve Collar, senior vice president and general manager, International Services.

Crowley services at the Port of Wilmington include shipment coordination, freight forwarding, import/export documentation, last-mile delivery, cargo insurance and Customs brokerage services.

Wilmington is strategically located within 700 miles of more than 70 percent of the U.S. industrial base and is now linked to Charlotte, NC by a daily CSX double-stack rail service.

The company said its Queen City Express provides container availability at North Carolina Ports' Charlotte Intermodal Terminal and also provides connectivity for Crowley's new call at Wilmington.

"This service, dovetailed with the investment that CSX is making in Rocky Mount, is a testament to our dedication to the State of North Carolina and North Carolina Ports," said Dean Piacente, vice president of CSX Intermodal. "In addition to the connection to Charlotte, CSX will also provide future access to a transformational, state-of-the-art intermodal rail terminal in Eastern North Carolina – the Carolina Connector," he added.
