SINGAPORE/SCHINDELLEGI, Switzerland: January 15, 2018. Singapore sovereign investor Temasek has signed an MoU with Kuehne + Nagel to invest in early stage companies developing advanced technology for logistics and supply chains.

K+N chairman Joerg Wolle said the new joint venture combining Temasek's long-term oriented investment strategy with his company's global logistics network and know-how would accelerate the transformation of the logistics industry: "For Kuehne + Nagel it is both another important step in the deployment of our digitalization approach and to shape the future of our industry," he declared.

Tamesek KNThe new organization will invest in early stage companies that are developing technologies and services with the potential to transform traditional business models in logistics, improve efficiency, and provide an enhanced value proposition for consumers. The cooperation will focus on Big Data and predictive analytics, AI, blockchain and robotics.

Temasek president & Head, Europe and South East Asia, Tan Chong Lee added: "The opportunities presented by the growth of technology and its application across sectors have been an increasing focus for Temasek. We believe [this] collaboration will allow us to further identify and support growing companies at the forefront of technological development in the logistics industry."

Incorporated in 1974, Temasek owns a S$275 billion portfolio mainly in Singapore and the rest of Asia covering financial services; telecommunications, media & technology; transportation & industrials; consumer & real estate; life sciences & agriculture; as well as energy & resources.

Owned by the Singapore government Minister for Finance, Temasek has produced a S$15 percent compound annual return on its investment portfolio since 1974. The Government of Singapore Investment Corporation, which has a stake in London Heathrow, is also wholly owned by the Minister for Finance.

As of March 2017 the Temasek investment profolio included 56 percent of Singapore Airlines, 100 percent of ocean terminal handler PSA International and 52 percent of Singapore Telecommunications.
