MEMPHIS, January 16, 2018. FedEx Corporation is combining its specialty logistics and e-commerce solutions in a new organization under its FedEx Trade Networks (FTN) division.

Richard W Smith FedExTogether with a new company called FedEx Forward Depots, covering Critical Inventory and Service Parts Logistics, 3-D Printing, Repair Center and the FedEx Packaging Lab, the organization will include FedEx Custom Critical, FedEx Cross Border, FedEx Supply Chain and FedEx Trade Networks Transport & Brokerage businesses.

FedEx president and COO David Bronczek said the goal of the realignment was to leverage all its specialty companies under the FTN brand, currently headed by CEO Richard Smith (pictured), son of FedEx founder Fred Smith.

"Richard brings a strong background in working with the unique capabilities that have existed in many parts of the FedEx portfolio for several years and is well suited to lead this new organization that will bring these solutions to customers more seamlessly than ever," added Bronczek.

"This realignment under FedEx Trade Networks will allow us to offer customers the full power of our wide array of unique and competitively advantaged customized services in a way that is even more convenient and intuitive," declared Smith.

As a result, from March 01 this year FedEx Supply Chain financials, currently reported as FedEx Ground, and FedEx Custom Critical, included in FedEx Freight, will be reported as part of FedEx Trade Networks under the FedEx Express segment.

For Q2 2018 ending November 30, FedEx Express reported revenue of US$9.35 billion and operating income of US813 million.

Smith joined FedEx Services in 2005 as a senior solutions analyst and became a manager at FedEx Supply Chain Solutions in 2007. He was promoted to managing director of Life Sciences & Specialty Services at FedEx Express in 2009 and was named vice president of Global Trade Services in April 2014. Most recently he held the position of senior vice president of Global Trade and Specialty Services. He earned his BA from George Washington University and his Juris Doctor from the University of Mississippi School of Law.
