UPS Kentucky-DubaiATLANTA: February 05, 2018. UPS is launching a five times weekly B747-8 freighter service from Louisville, KY to Dubai on February 27.

The new Tuesday to Saturday flight is part of plans to expand the company's presence in Dubai as a build-up to Expo 2020.

"Our customers are demanding more capacity, and we're providing it with this non-stop connection to Dubai," said UPS Airlines president, Brendan Canavan. "UPS has made a strategic investment in 747-8 jumbo jets to offer sustainable lift on long-range international routes like this."

The Louisville-Dubai flight leg is part of an around-the-world operation linking Louisville, Dubai, Shenzhen, home to UPS' largest facility in Asia, and Anchorage.

"The UAE trades with all 50 U.S. states and has grown to become the U.S.'s largest export destination in the Middle East. Dubai's importance as a global trade hub increases every day – and we're now getting there a day faster from North and South America with our small package express carrier and cargo offerings," added Jim Barber, president UPS International.

UPS has reported a 2017 fourth quarter net profit of US$1.5 billion on an 11.2 percent year-on-year increase in revenue to US$18.8 billion. International revenue rose 13 percent in Q4 to reach US$3.7 billion to produce an operating profit of US$725 million. The company said total revenue for the year rose 8.2 percent to reach US$65.9 billion.
