SAMSKIP HULLAMSTERDAM: March 02, 2018. Samskip is introducing a three times a week multimodal sailing between Amsterdam and Hull, UK on March 12 that connects with barge and rail services to other parts of Northern Europe.

The new service adds to a five times weekly Rotterdam-Hull operation and follows an agreement between Samskip and TMA Logistics covering vessel calls at Amsterdam's Holland Cargo Terminal which features three 750 meter intermodal rail tracks.

According to Samskip Trade director UK Richard Beales, the new Hull link anticipates various Brexit outcomes: "The multimodal concept in general can efficiently reduce border control delays, as it is less subject to the increasing driver shortages we are seeing in the market," he explained.

"We have done a lot to attract Samskip and we certainly hope and expect to expand business through this new arrangement including expanding multimodal links," added Michael van Toledo of TMA Logistics.

Samskip COO Diederick Blom concluded: "Both Port of Amsterdam and TMA Logistics have shown exceptional commitment to this new partnership, We have performance guarantees in place from the terminal operators proposing very fast turn times of vessels, trucks and rail."
