GENEVA: April 03, 2018. Three Dutch graduates were finalists in IATA’s first competition to find innovative solutions to challenges facing the air cargo sector.

FACE winners 2018Femke Sickler (right of picture), from Delft University of Technology and now an intern with KLM Cargo, won the award after she and her colleagues presented their ideas to attendees at IATA’s World Cargo Symposium in Dallas last month.

The other two finalists were Danny Jonker (left), who talked about “made-to-measure” packaging solutions, and Caroline Larisch (center) who presented corporate sustainability initiatives for the fast-fashion industry. Both are recent graduates from Maastricht University.

Sickler addressed ways to improve the air cargo value chain with regard to the acceptance process, trucking schedule and data communication.

"Among many worthy candidates I congratulate Femke Sickler for an outstanding achievement. It is great to see the next generation of air cargo professionals helping to drive the innovation that is needed in the global air cargo industry," said Glyn Hughes, IATA’s Global head of Cargo.

The biennial competition is part of IATA’s Future Air Cargo Executives (FACE) Program that was launched in 2013 to attract, retain and develop the next generation of air cargo industry leaders.
