JEDDAH, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia: April 17, 2018. Former Fedex and DHL executive Omar Hariri is the new CEO of the Saudi Airlines Cargo Company.

Saudia Cargo CEO Omer Hariri 2 for webPrior to his new appointment Hariri was managing director of the FedEx operation in the KSA represented by Abdul Latif Jameel Transportation.

He has also held various executive positions with DHL including vice president Commercial for DHL Express in Saudi Arabia, and National Sales and then country manager in Kuwait for the company.

The new Saudia Cargo CEO appointment coincides with a transformation 2020 program launched in early 2017 by the company to complement the country’s ‘Saudi 2030’ vision to “transform the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from a technology consumer to a technology innovator,” according to HRH Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Saudi Arabia Crown Prince and minister of Defense.

A report this month by the World Bank says the KSA is maintaining the pace of its multifaceted reform agenda as the government continues to restrict oil production and implement “major initiatives to counter the pervasive problems in its oil-dependent economy”.

With less oil production, and a private sector still adapting to fiscal consolidation, the Word Bank predicts GDP growth is likely to be dependent on the course of recently announced new public spending.
