QUERÉTARO, Mexico: May 18, 2018. With the arrival of its Spirit of Panalpina B747-8 freighter today, Panalpina has added Querétaro International Airport, just over 200 kilometres north of Mexico City, to a charter network that connects with an airfreight hub in Huntsville, Alabama.

Spirit of PanalpinaQuerétaro joins the company’s existing destinations of Mexico City and Guadalajara and now links London Stansted and Luxembourg twice a week via Huntsville.

Panalpina also operates an extra transatlantic roundtrip between Luxembourg and Huntsville with a Cargolux freighter that can connect with a trucking service to all major industrial centres in Mexico. The company said it has flown 11 ad hoc charters to the country this year with 10 more scheduled for the next few weeks.

The new service, which replaces one Mexico City frequency on a Friday, is prompted by increased demand from the aerospace industry, according to the company.

Querétaro is in Mexico’s Bajio region, a fast-growing growing economic area that includes automotive and manufacturing industries as well as one of the largest aerospace clusters in the world.

“Panalpina has been committed to Querétaro for over five years now,” commented Matthias Frey, global head of the Panalpina Charter Network. “This unique combination of scheduled and ad hoc charter flights, as well as overland services, means that we can efficiently and reliably distribute imported products to Mexico City, Guadalajara, Querétaro, Puebla, Monterrey, San Luis Potosí and Aguascalientes.”
