INCHEON: July 09, 2018. Korean Air has begun operating a B777 freighter to Delhi three times a week following the introduction of a similar frequency passenger service to Mumbai and a five times a week operation to the country's capital.

B777F LHRThe airline said the decision was prompted by the South Korean government’s new diplomatic strategy to strengthen its partnership with India coupled with the rapid market growth of the sub-continent.

The new freighter flight will depart at 11:10 PM from Incheon, make a stop at Hanoi and arrive at Delhi at 6:15 AM the next day. The return flight from Delhi to Incheon includes stops in Vienna and Milan, according to the company.

“Demand for air cargo from Asia to India has shown a sharp boost recently; an average of 6.5 percent annual increase in the last three years,” said a Korean Air spokesperson. “We are anticipating new demand and improved profitability through optimized cargo routes.”

The airline says it will celebrate its 50th anniversary next year with the use of B777 and B747-8 freighters together with a new air cargo system ‘iCargo’.
