COURBEVOIE, France: July 23, 2018. GEFCO Group has been awarded a three-year Good Distribution Practice (GDP) compliance certificate for shipping pharmaceutical products by road. Awarded by Bureau Veritas, the certificate is indicative of the company's high standards when it comes to transporting pharmaceutical products by road.

The external auditor analyzed the GEFCO quality system and its ability to answer customer requirements in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Greece, Romania and the Group’s headquarters in France.

The Life Sciences and Healthcare logistics market is evolving and becoming more complex. With the volume increase in temperature-sensitive products as well as the regulations related to their transportation, there is a requirement for companies to place more emphasis on control and security. Failure to do so could pose a risk to public health and potential loss of high-value cargo.GEFCO truck

GEFCO offers door-to-door, temperature-controlled, integrated logistics, multimodal and fully compliant solutions. In 2019, the company will extend the deployment of the GDP certification for road in morel European countries.

“GEFCO has a strong history in the Life Science and Healthcare sector and is fully aware of its clients’ stakes. The GDP compliance is further proof of GEFCO’s commitment to supplying secure and compliant Life Sciences and Healthcare shipments and ensuring the integrity of all products,” said Alain Vignon, head of GEFCO Management System.

Earlier this year, GEFCO opened its third Life Sciences and Healthcare dedicated temperature-controlled warehouse near Heathrow Airport in the UK, which complements GEFCO Air & Sea warehouses in Frankfurt, Germany and Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Last year, the Group was also awarded the IATA-CEIV Pharma Certification for its Air & Sea activity in Netherlands. This compliance certificate reflects GEFCO’s expertise in Life Sciences & Healthcare supply chain management.
