LE HAVRE: September 06, 2018. Bruno Le Maire, France’s minister of Economy and Finance and Elisabeth Borne, the country’s minister of Transport, inaugurated the CMA CGM Group’s flagship Antoine de Saint-Exupéry today.

CMA CGM inaugurationCMA CGM Group CEO Rodolphe Saadé commented: "This vessel is a symbol of the growth of our company, a French company, and proud to be, which will celebrate its 40the anniversary in exactly one week. With CMA CGM, France is a leader in the field of international maritime transport, which plays a key role in the economic development of any country. "

The 20,600 TEU flagship arrived in Le Havre on September 05 after a 47-day journey from Asia and will leave tomorrow with a full load of French exports. By the end of the year the shipping group will operate two more similar-sized container vessels: the Jena Mermoz and Louise Bleriot.

The company has also launched ‘Climactive’, a reefer technology for the carriage of perishables using Daikin Active CA to rapidly reduce the level of oxygen inside a reefer container to maintain a controlled atmosphere.

A nitrogen pump creates a barrier to increasing oxygen levels while maintaining temperature, humidity and balance to protect fruit and vegetables from excessive ripening.

CMA CGM, which has a fleet of 385,000 TEU reefers and 288,000 plugs, says the new technology allows perishables exporters to reach new markets by maintaining product freshness to final destination, extend shelf life and product quality.
