LEIPZIG/HALLE: January 17, 2019. CargoLogic Germany (CLG) has taken delivery of a B747-400 freighter, the first of three aircraft due to join the company in 2019.

The new airline, currently awaiting its Air Operators Certificate, intends to operate a totaCargologic B747 400l of 10 aircraft within three years flying express shipments around Europe.

“The arrival of the first plane at its future home base is an important milestone along our journey of launching flight operations here at Leipzig/Halle Airport during the spring this year,” said Managing director Ulrich Ogiermann (centre of picture with Accountable manager Dierk Näther, right).
“All the measures required for this from both organisational and operational points of view are proceeding at full speed. We’re therefore involved in a constructive dialogue with the Federal Aviation Office in this regard,” he added.

In addition to being a significant hub for DHL Express, the airport is also home to the DHL/Lufthansa Cargo joint-venture Aerologic. This week Lufthansa Cargo announced it would place one of four new B777 freighters due to arrive this year with Aerologic.

“We are delighted to be in a position to put four brand-new freighters into operation this year. This will effectively modernize our own fleet at our Frankfurt Airport base and further boost our efficiency and reliability. At the same time, we are focusing as a shareholder on growing AeroLogic, our fifty-fifty joint venture with DHL Express at Leipzig Airport,” declared Lufthansa Cargo CEO Peter Gerber.
