FRANKFURT: February 28, 2019. Lufthansa Cargo is increasing its network freighter capacity by 10 percent for its new summer schedule following the delivery of two more B777 freighters, one of which will be operated in its Aerologic joint-venture with DHL.
Highlights include: two more flights added to the daily Frankfurt to Tokyo Narita schedule with an MD-11 via Novosibirsk on Wednesdays and Fridays; Osaka will be served three times rather than twice weekly with an MD-11F; and Seoul Incheon will also be included on the outward leg from Frankfurt, bringing the total number of South Korean frequencies to nine a week.
The company will now fly daily to Hong Kong with an MD-11F and introduce a new service to Mumbai for a total of seven flights a week to India including a doubling of capacity to Chennai with an Aerologic B777F.
North America will see Atlanta served on a daily basis and Chicago goes up from eight to 12 flights a week.
For Central and South America, Lufthansa Cargo will only use B777F capacity on new direct flights to Mexico City; to Buenos Aires via Viracopos and Montevideo; from Frankfurt to Viracopos via Curitiba (Brazil); and on the direct flight from Frankfurt to Viracopos, with a stop in Dakar on the return.
With another B777F due in the spring, Lufthansa Cargo will operate seven B777F and 10 MD-11F aircraft by the end of the year.
