KASTRUP, Denmark: March 11, 2019. SAS Cargo has extended its agreement with Unilode Aviation Solutions to digitise its container fleet.

The agreement forms part of Unilode’s digital transformation programme, which is based on BLE5 technology and a global reader infrastructure, and enables ULD tracking and the measurement of temperature, humidity, light and shock in air freight shipments, among other benefits.

This development is another major milestone in a long-standing collaboration, which started in 2011 with the conversion of SAS Cargo’s ULD fleet to lightweight containers, and enables SAS Cargo to take the next step in fulfilling its digital ambitions.

unilode SAS“The implementation of innovative and competitive digital solutions requires that all stakeholders put the customer at the centre, ensure transparency and integrate a digital transformation strategy that offers a coherent customer experience through all channels," said Leif Rasmussen, SAS Cargo Group president and CEO. "The digitisation of our ULD fleet will bring SAS Cargo to the next level of supply chain excellence and we look forward to expanding our collaboration with Unilode.”

In a related move, Unilode has jointly developed an integrated digital solution for all PalNet pallets based on Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) 5 that enables ULD tracking and measurement of temperature and shock. All existing PalNet pallets, including heavy duty pallets, can be retrofitted with the integrated digital solution or  acquired ex-works with a pre-installed tag.

"We are pleased to have developed an integrated digital solution for Unilode's digital transformation programme, which is available for our entire pallet portfolio," declared Klaus Demtröder, PalNet CEO. "The cooperation between PalNet and Unilode is testament to a long and trusted partnership. We are pleased to be able to offer a product jointly with Unilode that meets our high-quality standard and does not impair with our requirements from an engineering perspective."
