AMSTERDAM/ADDIS ABABA: August 23, 2019. AFKLMP Cargo has announced the reintroduction of a B747 freighter service to Lusaka, Zambia after a three-year hiatus.

KLM 747FThe flights will operate on a weekly round-trip basis with the first departure on September 03 from Amsterdam and include Johannesburg, Lusaka, Harare and Nairobi.

Also starting a new service from and to Africa is Ethiopian Airlines with a weekly B777 freighter from Addis Ababa to Bangkok and Hanoi as of mid-August.

Airline CEO Tewolde GebreMariam commented: “Our new cargo service will create better connectivity for cargo transport not just between Ethiopia and Thailand and Vietnam but also to over 60 destinations we serve in Africa.

“The commencement of these flights makes Ethiopian the first African carrier to operate cargo flights from Bangkok, and will also create better opportunity for Thai and Vietnamese exporters to have a one-stop access to the 60 plus African destinations Ethiopian serves. The freighter flight will also link Bangkok and Hanoi to Europe, Asia, Middle East and the Americas,” he continued.
