FORT LAUDERDALE, FL: July 11, 2017. Amerijet International has announced it is the first U.S. all-cargo airline to earn IATA's CEIV- Pharma certification.

The airline ships 65 million pounds of temperature -controlled products annually via a Miami hub that includes a custom-built cooling facility providing storage environments for ambient 15°C - 25°C, chilled at 2°C - 8°C, and frozen at -0°C shipments.

"As an airline, our role in the supply chain is to provide safe handling and to ensure temperature integrity for all pharmaceutical shipments," said Rasheme Richardson, Amerijet vice president of Airport Operations. "Complying with the healthcare cold chain logistics standards, expected from pharmaceutical manufacturers and life sciences companies, helps to support the global healthcare initiative of putting patient safety first."

According to the latest U.S. Department of Commerce International Trade Administration (ITA) market report, America remains the world's largest pharma market with US$333 billion in sales in 2015, about triple the size of is nearest rival China.

With US$47 billion in exports in 2015, pharma ranks as one the leading exporting sectors for IP-intensive industries in the U.S. The top five markets that year were Belgium, (US$6.4 billion); Netherlands, (US$4.2 billion); Canada, US$3.8 billion; the U.K., (US$3.7 billion); and Japan, (US$3.5 billion).

U.S. imports totaled US$86 billion in 2015, making it the world's largest pharma importer. The top country suppliers by value were Ireland, (US$15.2 billion); Germany, (US$14.5 billion); Switzerland, (US$9.4 billion); Israel, (US$6 billion); and India, (US$6 billion).

The Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers Association says the U.S. biopharmaceutical industry supports over 3.4 million jobs directly or indirectly and added US$790 billion to the economy in 2014.

Current U.S. annual healthcare expenditure is US$3.12 trillion (17.4 percent of GDP), with US$1.49 trillion spent on government-funded healthcare and a further US$1.63 trillion by the private sector.

The ITA report expects the worldwide pharma market to grow in value from US$1 trillion in 2015 to US$1.3 trillion by 2020.

"Being the first all-cargo airline from the U.S. to receive the Center of Excellence for Independent Validators in Pharmaceutical Logistics is a direct result of hard work and the investments we have made over the last few years to our Temperature Controlled program," declared Amerijet president and CEO Vic Karjian.
